Holy Moly & The Crackers have already built up a reputation for being one of the most barn-storming gypsy folk and roll bands around, delighting audiences with their storming tunes that combine traditional folk elements with more than a bit of punk spirit. Now the band are about to take to the stage to perform their latest piece, If The River Was Whiskey, a booze-fuelled foray into the musical that’ll be unlike any rock opera you’ve seen before.

Like most rollickingly good tales, If The River Was Whiskey is a tale of love and murder, being on the run from the law and dabbling in a few evil deeds. It’s also a tale of whiskey and one man’s quest to get it. The band are set to take you on a voyage down peaty roads and into a bevvy of shady drinking establishments, accompanied by a mesmerising soundtrack.

If that doesn’t whet your appetite at all then know this: everyone who pre-books a ticket will receive an absolutely free shot of whiskey on the night. If that doesn’t get you excited, well, who knows what will.

If The River Was Whiskey comes to the Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle from Monday 7th to Thursday 10th September.
