After touring the UK and the rest of the world, Imogen Stirling’s critically acclaimed show, Hypocrisy is coming to Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle from 29th-31st May. The show has received mass critical acclaim and was longlisted for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award and is currently shortlisted for ‘Best Spoken Word Show’ in the 2019 Saboteur Awards.

The show is a fusion of poetry, music and dark comedy and explores Western privilege in an increasingly racist society. The story looks at the groundbreaking poet’s return to Scotland from her travels and the hypocrisy she is confronted with:

‘Dangerous politicians prevail, the media sells fictions masquerading as reality, an ocean of social media sympathy pours forth for Western terror victims, yet backs turn on the migrant crisis.’

It’s a story that holds a mirror to society and will remind you that in complacency lies the most heart-stopping terror. Tickets for this must-see event are pay as you feel, and the show is double billed with ‘A Self Help Guide To Being In Love With Jeremy Corbyn’ by poet Jess Green.
