After playing host to a busy February, thanks to some blinding late-night sets during the 6 Music Festival, the Boiler Shop Steamer is gearing up to host its two-day extravaganza of food and real ale on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th March… And we are back providing the live music on the Saturday!

This month we’re bringing you headliners House of the Black Gardenia, purveyors of all things viper jazz, dirty blues and hot vintage swing. With a fine knack for filling the city’s dancefloors with super-retro roots music, the group are set to make the Steamer party like it’s 1929. They’re joined by Newcastle trio Iceni, whose penchant for bold piano-disco and classic power-pop hooks has meant they’ve developed a sound stuffed with feel-good vibes and infectiously luscious melodies. Rounding off the bill is The Lindsay Hannon Plus, the jazz project of Iceni guitarist Hannon. Rooted firmly in the improv side of the genre, Hannon and her band move effortlessly between styles and bring out the visceral edge of jazz.

Of course, the Boiler Shop is much more than just the music. Riley’s Fish Shack and Wylam Brewery have once again teamed up to bring down a host of mouth-watering gourmet food and drink outlets to the event, including Teasy Does It, Utter Swine, Tokyo Kitchen, Ouseburn Coffee Co, Pizzette, Papa Ganoush and the Chaat Cart – literally everyone’s taste buds are well and truly catered for. There’ll also be music through the night courtesy of some seriously talented DJs who’ll be spinning a range of the best funk, soul, pop, R’n’B and disco tracks you can think of.

The Boiler Shop Steamer takes place on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th March at the Boiler Shop, Newcastle.
