The gypsy folk band celebrate the launch of their new album, Salem
To promote this year’s ground-breaking new album Salem, Newcastle’s own Holy Moly & The Crackers will be embarking on a full UK tour that will take in the Ouseburn Valley’s Cobalt Studio on Saturday 18th November.
It’s sure to be a fantastic night from a band that have well earned their reputation for putting on a storming live show, pulling no punches and bedazzling everyone in their path. The seven-piece self-described ‘gypsy folk rock’ band have been developing their unique sound since their 2012 debut album First Avenue, influenced by both popular and their favoured folk music. Building a loyal and devoted fan base that has steadily grown over the years, they are a formidable live act, and the fiery Salem lends itself perfectly to a live setting. “We describe ourselves as ‘gypsy-folk-rock’, but that’s a very loose time,” say the band. “Now there’s a bigger beat; more compulsion, a harder drive, a darker underbelly. We’re toughening up.”
The November show offers a fine opportunity to support arts venue Cobalt Studios too, which continues to programme unique and forward-thinking live music and performance-based events.
