It’s little use telling me that summer is around the corner when I’m writing this amidst weather warnings and freak rain storms, but perhaps the good folks at Toft House know more than me…

Their Here Comes The Summer gig returns to the Middlesbrough venue on Saturday 6th July with an evening of seasonal enjoyment fit for a warm summer night. For a fiver on the door you can get a full line-up of some of the region’s brightest musicians, with the fun kicking off with traditional folk duo Avril McCall & Denis Firman, who will showcase the best from their interesting repertoire. You might have spotted Harry Hailey here and there during his busking sessions, and the up and coming performer’s delightful acoustic pop will surely translate well to an indoor venue. There’s more folk, this time of a political tone, from Saltburn’s Dave Brunskill, who’s followed by the talented multi-instrumentalist Parissa Zarifi – whether she brings along a violin, guitar or ukulele, she’s guaranteed to astound with her stunning voice and an intimate performance. Last but certainly not least, The G.F. Bruce Band will perform in all their moody indie rock glory to make sure your summer gets the best possible start, come rain or shine.
