Reliably informed

The man, the myth, the legend…the one and only Mr Henry Rollins pays Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre & Opera House a visit on Monday 11th January as part of his Charmingly Obstinate spoken word tour – his first UK tour since 2012’s memorable Long March.

Although known first and foremost as a punk rock hero due to former vocalist duties in Black Flag and Rollins Band, Rollins is not one to rest on his laurels. The serial workaholic can also add author, journalist, actor, radio host, television presenter, publisher and activist to his eclectic repertoire. Though Rollins has sworn off music (don’t ask him about his former band mate Greg Ginn or the whole Black Flag Vs FLAG debacle…), he clearly has plenty to keep him occupied, whether it’s hosting his weekly radio show on LA’s KCRW or trekking across less-travelled destinations such as Nepal, Siberia, South Sudan and even North Korea.

So unsurprisingly, he has a hell of a lot to talk about. Known for his uncompromising spoken-word style, Rollins is motivational speaker, comedian and provocateur all rolled into one brawny, tattooed package.
