Tracks’ commitment to shining a spotlight on superb artists and great venues continues with the re-emergence of their literary-themed event, HARK!, which pops up at its new home of Hash Bar & Kitchen in Darlington on Thursday 2^nd February.

Promising the “sound of stories to bring light to the dark months”, HARK! features artists who make music based on stories and poetry they’ve read, overheard, researched and inherited. This month’s event features beguiling alternative electro folk artist Me Lost Me, aka Jayne Dent, whose experimental songwriting and storytelling fuses a multitude of genres to create often otherworldly sounds. Me Lost Me’s set will be complemented by a reading from Darlington-based author Lisette Auton, who reads from an extract of The Hundreds by Lauren Berlant and Kathleen Stewart, a particular inspiration for Jayne’s music.

There’s more atmospheric electronica courtesy of North Yorkshire singer and composer Rebecca Denniff, and story-driven songs and powerful soulful vocals from Kim Ralls, plus award-winning poet and author Harry Man will read from CS Lewis’s The Magician’s Nephew and poet Diane Casey of Tees Women Poets will read an extract from Walter Lorde’s A Night To Remember.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also a chance to grab some new reading material with the HARK! Book Exchange.
