The good fellas at GNAW (otherwise known as Great Northern Amp Worship) can be relied upon to produce a suitably noisy affair, due in part to their day jobs as members of Newcastle-based experimental rockers Waheela and metal sub-genre promoters Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings. Their gig at The Cluny on Saturday 21st November will be the fifth annual GNAW Fest, so it’s pretty clear they know a good line-up when they see one.

This year’s event is headlined by PSOTY (Pet Slimmers Of The Year – pictured), an instrumental act whose punishing and intense style is curiously melodic as well as aurally challenging. Returning from a triumphant set at last year’s event, Aberdeen’s drone metal monsters Sunwølf perform alongside riveting visuals; organisers Waheela bring riffs aplenty to proceedings; while mathy trio Clenstch bring their substantial sounds from Leeds and improv doom metalers Lovely Wife rock up from North Shields.

A night filled with experimental sounds and in-your-face heaviness – just how we like it.

GNAW Fest takes place at The Cluny, Newcastle on Saturday 21st November.
