The band’s glistening melodies make them one to watch
Newcastle-based four-piece Glastines have already done pretty well for themselves despite only being a handful of months old. They’ve already got a UK tour and plenty of BBC radio airplay under their belts, and their Foals and Peace-influenced, infinitely likeable sound is bound to capture new fans this summer. Their festival-friendly vibe is more than in evidence on previously released track I Don’t Mind; all sparky guitar lines and a meaty chorus, it demonstrates a promising band with a keen ear for glistening melodies.
Poised to release their new single this month, A Good Day To Try Hard is blissful slice of wide-angled, expansive and danceable indie, dripping with sunny synths, a calypso-esque rhythm, an earworm of a chorus and enough twists and turns to keep the listener guessing.
The band celebrate the track’s release with a gig at The Cluny 2, Newcastle on Sunday 26th April, with support from Durham-based indie rockers Hazels and up-tempo Sheffield natives, The Fontaines.
