After bringing you the delight of steampunk-infused folksters The Jar Family last month, at this month’s Boiler Shop Steamer we’re going a little more traditional by bringing you a headline set from Gilded Thieves. With their combination of Appalachian mountain music, alt-folk and blues, the Thieves’ show is always a foot-stomping, barn-storming affair with more energy than the Boiler Shop can handle. Expect them to play a mixture of their own rip-roaring folk tunes and possibly a couple of surprising covers. Joining them this month are Sunderland’s The Sons of Bido Lito, who’ll be providing the audience with some haunting Deep South-styled jangle rock and psychedelia. If you’re round for the early evening performance, you can also catch a special appearance by Shipcote and his brand of Geordie country swing.

Of course, as ever there’s also a lot more on offer from the Boiler Shop and in order to get the full experience, you’ll need to check out this month’s bevvy of pop up restaurants. This month once again features a massive range of food outlets, so there’ll be something to satisfy even the most exotic of tastes. Juicy burger bar The Fat Hippo, meaty and veggie Shwarma wraps from Papa and Mama Ganoush, sumptuous seafood from Claw-Hide and much, much more will be on offer! Plus, there’ll be music all day from some of the best DJs in the region spinning some classic tunes to get you on the dancefloor.

Gilded Thieves, The Sons of Bido Lito and Shipcote all play at the Boiler Shop Steamer, Newcastle on Saturday 8th August.
