The passing of music industry master Eric Cook was a great loss to the music scene and especially here in the North East. Someone who was so much more than just a band manager, studio runner and record company boss. His passion for music ran right through him and was a big part of our music scene. To truly remember the impact he’s had, there’s a special gig in his honour on Wednesday 11th September, which falls on the 5 month anniversary of Eric’s passing, following a battle with cancer.

Therapy? were one of Eric’s last signings to his own labels Blast and Demolition Records and he took them with him to Amazing Record Co. too. There was a huge amount of mutual respect between Eric and the band, and it was Andy’s suggestion that we show Eric the respect that he deserved in the best and most suitable manner possible.

So with Therapy? on headline duties and support from the metallers he championed earlier on his career, Tysondog, and up and coming garage rockers Avalanche Party rounding out the bill, this is a show that pulls in some of the best and brightest musical talents to honour a man who was filled with such a love for music that it’s hard not to embrace those feelings too.

The Gig For Eric is at The Cluny, Newcastle on Wednesday 11th September.
