Get The Blessing are a Bristol-based jazz rock quartet, who will be making the long journey North for a stop at Gosforth’s Civic Theatre on Friday 7th February. Having formerly been known as The Blessing, the group are comprised of Jim Bar and Clive Dreamer, who have previously played with Portishead, and were joined by Jake McMurchie and Pete Judge when the band formed at the turn of the century. As you may expect, much of their music is instrumental, although they have been known to feature guest vocalists.

Their turn in Gosforth is likely to lean heavily on their instrumental compositions, featuring tracks from 2018’s Bristopia, which was widely acknowledged as some of their finest work, earning accolades for its experimental style. Their latest work may well be some of their best, but they can also call upon a superb discography that includes seven full length releases across the last ten years, each sparking a spontaneous and exuberant sound.

Their trip to Newcastle’s suburbs is something of a coup, and one you ought to make time for, particularly as they’ll be supported by Newcastle’s own alt. folk cellist and songwriter, Ceitidh Mac.
