Laughter… Remember that? It was an involuntary response to things we found funny before Brexit, a decade of Tory rule and a deadly global pandemic took it away from us. It was a cathartic release, a social adhesive and a distraction from all that was grey and grim and thankfully, courtesy of Funslingers’ Causey Comedy Nights (at The South Causey Inn, Stanley), it returns.

On Friday 21st August pop on your gladrags and enjoy a night of excellent (and safe and socially distanced) comedy. It’s a rib-ticklingly succulent line up to feast upon, featuring three incredible comics being introduced to the stage by regular host Si Beckwith.

Headlining is the hilarious Carl Hutchinson, who in the past has reached the final of So You Think You’re Funny?, been nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Award and supported Chris Ramsey on his tours The Most Dangerous Man on Saturday Morning Television. Completing the line up are host of BBC Newcastle’s Grin Up North show, Louise Young, as well as top turn and Evening Chronicle columnist Mike Milligan.

The show will begin at 8.30 pm. Tickets are £15 in advance – to purchase call 01207 235555.
