The Amsterdam-based metal band bring their furious rock to Tyneside
Metal sometimes gets a bit of flack for being a male-dominated genre. When you think of some of the most famous metal bands, they’re not exactly packed with women. Not only do Amsterdam-based metallers For I Am King have a brilliant female frontwoman, but they’re also pretty atypical compared to your stereotypical purveyors of thrash. Despite their genre-defying looks though, the band will be bringing some seriously heavy noise to The Central Bar in Gateshead on Tuesday 27th January.
For I Am King love a good thrash-out, sure, but they’re also well-known for their defining melodies. More melodic than your average metal band, the group have more to offer than just some heavy riffage and pounding drums; you could describe them as a thinking-person’s metal band, perfect for those a little bit tired of macho posturing and guitarists who would rather show off their Guitar Hero skills than hold a tune.
They’re joined by Newcastle favourites Arcite on the night, who’ll be warming up the crowd with some of their own unique brand of thrash. It won’t be a night of easy-listening but it’ll certainly be a treat for noise lovers.
For I Am King perform at the Central Bar, Gateshead on Tuesday 27th January.
