Here’s an early heads up for what’s certain to be a pretty much immediate sell out gig, Sunderland’s quirky indie popsters Field Music have announced a special gig in a unique location to raise money for Cancer Research, a cause close to their hearts.

Last March Peter and David Brewis lost their mam, Linda, after a long illness. A much-loved youth and community worker in the area, Linda offered support and help to a huge number of young people over the years. She was involved in Dave Murray’s city centre music workshops, as well as Sean Taylor’s Oxclose Music Project, which collectively kick started the careers of the likes of Field Music, The Futureheads, Slug, Yourcodenameis:milo and many others. Believing that great youth work could make a huge difference to a young person’s life, Linda’s legacy will be felt in the region for many years to come.

The gig, taking place at Steels Social Club in Sunderland on Friday 1st March, will bring together musicians whose lives were touched by Linda, as well as musicians currently involved in youth work in the region, making for a very special event indeed.

Tickets are on sale now, priced at £10
