News: Festival Of Thrift 2022

Celebrators of sustainable living, Festival of Thrift turn 10 this year and to get us in the party mood have unveiled a series of announcements for 2022’s installment.

The festival will be taking place at Kirkleatham on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September where 50,000 people will come together and share achievable and creative ways to make the shift to thrift. Expect a plethora of ethical enterprises such as the local makers, food producers, artisans, upcyclers, fixers and recyclers, craftspeople and artists who trade and provide workshops and entertainment. There will also be a fashion show cleverly named ECOuture, showcasing sustainable threads from a selection of the UK’s up and coming fashion designers.

The theme for this year’s event ties in with 2022’s Commonwealth Games. Our Common Wealth will look at what we share and have in common and will feature artists and activities from across the globe.

Finally, a series of Festival of Thrift podcasts on sustainable topics are being released throughout the year. These discussions were recorded in the popular EnlightenTent Talks Tent at the 2021 festival and supported by Tees Valley Nature Partnership. The first one focusing on sustainable architecture is available here, with future episodes set to follow.
