Having already released two singles at the back end of last year, Sunderland’s alt. metallers Eujenics are quite the prolific bunch. Due to drop an EP this month, the heavy rockers’ song titles give something away of what you could expect; the ponderous bass of Eviscerate, energetic riffs and anguished vocals of Culled, recent single Meniscus – with its satisfyingly heavy breakdowns and Muse-esque riffs, and Kalashnikov’s furious assaults interspersed with breathless segues showcase a tightly controlled band, whose live shows are highly rated.

Describing their gigs as “kind of like a mental asylum doing punk rock cabaret”, their forthcoming EP launch at Sunderland’s Independent on Saturday 13th February promises a night filled with raw energy and drive.

The EP, recorded at Durham’s Tru Studios, manages to encapsulate the band’s live energy. “The tracks are mainly about love, psychological adjustment, being in a liminal period between being in an unhappy routine to happy chaos.” Says vocalist Nic Wood. “It’s a crystallised period of time for you all to hear!”
