With a new EP set to be released, and the lead single from it just out, Etches are to showcase those songs live too, with something of a mini-tour, that sees them take in Newcastle’s Dog & Parrot on Friday 15th April.

Their broodingly dark indie pop has been compared to massively successful bands like Editors and Elbow, but in truth they flit between all of the tortured pop charm of bands like Tears For Fears and making it all sound very modern and fresh. The Liverpool five-piece have a gift for immersive melodies over wailing guitars, and if their songwriting continues in the same inspired vein it has so far, catching them in small spaces like The Dog & Parrot will be few and far between; so this Friday could be a very special rare treat. Joined by the delightfully captivating delicate, honest pop of rising stars Canyons, it’s shaping up to be a perfect way to see in the weekend.
