Reliably informed

Having experienced a differing of opinions with their label, Newcastle alt. rockers EnterTheLexicon are going it alone for their new EP release, albeit with a little help from their friends. The Ruining Lives EP offers a tantalising taste of what fans can expect from the band’s forthcoming debut album, currently being funded via Kickstarter.

The band’s trademark anthemic alt. rock is best showcased on the angsty thrill of Codes, with its brutal breakdowns and barely restrained fury; Heavy Heart of Gold’s fidgety guitars and melodious bass provide the basis for a languorous vocal, while The Slow Death’s slow-burn opening eventually widens into a clattering of drums, a melodic chorus and driving rhythms.

It seems the EP release has been a long time coming for the band who, now free of label constraints, are able to make and release the music they’ve been hankering after. Equally as enthralling live as on record, the band head out on a string of live dates across the UK this month, stopping in at The Cluny 2 supporting Brighton trio Tigercub on Tuesday 3rd and HMV Newcastle on Saturday 14th November, where the EP gets an official launch.
