ETT (English Touring Theatre), recently announced the full programme for Trailer Story a travelling outdoor performance space touring across the UK. In partnership with Northern Stage, they will be paying a visit to Newcastle from 30th July -1st August in partnership with Northern Stage.

Inspired by ETT’s origins as Century Theatre, who toured the UK in a pop-up space, Trailer Story performances will be housed in a truck that would usually be used to tour production sets around the country, but has now been reimagined as a space for artists and audiences to meet.

There is plenty of excellent theatre to enjoy, including Nouveau Riche’s dance-theatre piece, Resonate, written and performed by Ntonga Mwanza, and Lung Theatre’s Who Cares by Matt Woodhead, which explores the experience of young carers. On top of that there is How to Save a Rock, a bike powered family comedy written by Conky Kampfner, Alex Rugman and Pigfoot; as well as Tim Crouch’s reimagining of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night from the point of view of its most notoriously abused steward in I, Malvolio

For kids looking for laughs there is Comedy Club 4 Kids, for cosmic gameshow action from Figs In Wigs, then check out the Astrology Bingo and if strolling is your thing, then get involved with the self-guided tour A Rain Walk, which is accompanied by recorded voices of children from across the UK and Ireland.

There will be music and beatboxing from Grace Savage who performs her award-winning routines and distinguished back catalogue of songs, along with Testament who also brings his spoken word, rap and beatbox show to Newcastle.

And as if that wasn’t enough, local artists take over the space, including The BonBons Cabaret, Mam Tackles The Climate Crisis, BRASH’s Raising Shame and A case in point by What’s That Dance.
