Emma Fisk beams her Hot Club du Nord directly to your living room on Sunday 9th August via Newcastle’s community owned music venue The Globe, as part of a series of live-streamed gigs taking place while the venue is closed.
Bringing the classic repertoire of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli’s Hot Club de France, British Jazz Awards Nominee Emma Fisk and her band conjure up the swinging gypsy jazz of 1930’s Paris, ably demonstrating their typically sparkling performances and engaging manner.
Hailing from Peterlee, Emma has been playing Hot Club and gypsy jazz since she was a teenager. Joined by guitar maestros James Birkett and David Harris and rhythm king Bruce Rollo on double bass, the quartet bring fresh, inspired interpretations, a deep love of the gypsy jazz style and an energy that is absolutely infectious.
The gig is a real treat for connoisseurs of swinging string jazz and lovers of all things vintage!
