Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival will soon be upon us –  as hordes of comedy fans make the journey north of the border, those who don’t fancy the drive can take in previews of some of the most promising shows at The Witham in Barnard Castle throughout July.

Kicking off on Saturday 15th July with a bumper four-hour show will be some of the top comedians destined to appear this year:  BBC’s ever-present Hal Crittenden will be showcasing his Work in Progress with a CV that includes Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You, you’re in for a high quality start to the evening.

Dead Ringers star Jan Ravens will be presenting her much-anticipated debut show prior to a UK tour, brilliantly observing an array of contemporary characters, including Theresa May and Diane Abbott delivered with on-point satire. Also on the bill are Howard Read, performing his human/cartoon double act and Chortle Award winner Joseph Morpurgo.

On the Saturday 22nd July, Jo Caulfield brings her razor-sharp wit, acerbic observations and scandalous one-liners to The Witham stage, all excellently written and impeccably delivered. Finishing up the night is up- and-coming comedian Brennan Reece with a powerfully entertaining show about the stars, memories and, last but not least, his Nana.
