Saturday 16th July is a day absolutely stacked with comedy fun at The Witham in Barnard Castle, as they welcome some spectacularly funny folk to preview the shows they’ll be taking up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August; and it’s all thanks to Funny Way To Be Comedy Club. There’s a great mix of comedy styles, from comedy circuit regulars Sofie Hagen, Justin Moorhouse, Joe Caulfield and Matt Forde.

It’s a full day’s worth of shows, which starts with the winner of last year’s Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer, and 2014’s Chortle Best Newcomer Award winner Sofie Hagen. Her warm, storytelling style is off set by a dangerous edge and sharp way with words. Justin Moorhouse brings his show People and Feelings, with the comic familiar from shows such as Live at the Apollo, Phoenix Nights and Coronation Street, the experienced comedian delivers superbly crafted gags.

There’s also the brilliantly comedy mind of Jo Caulfield, whose show Disappointed In You sees her making a welcome return to Barnard Castle, fitting in time around being a regular TV face now on shows like Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. It’s all rounded out by a show from political comedian Matt Forde, the immensely watchable performer rounds out a really special day of comedy, where you’d be silly not to get tickets for at least one show.
