Following a string of festivals and sold out shows across Europe during the summer, Eagles Of Death Metal are winding up the year with a UK tour which rocks up to Newcastle’s O2 Academy on Monday 9th November. Formed back in 1998 by childhood friends Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme (he of Queens Of The Stone Age) EODM released their fourth studio album, the saucily titled Zipper Down, last month, and this tour will provide fans with their first opportunity to hear the newest songs performed live.

With a frontman whose other half is a former porn star (despite the fact he’s an ordained minister), and a drummer famous for fronting one of the world’s most renowned rock bands, it’s little surprise to hear that EODM have been described as ‘dirty rock and roll’ and they provide exactly what critics have pasted on their tin.

However, what really stands out with Eagles Of Death Metal is their sense of fun. One really gets the sense that Josh and Jesse are enjoying what they do and this translates into their raucous, energetic live performances. Joining them for their evening of rambunctiousness is surely a must for any fan of rock and roll in the North East.
