If you take a look at Dignan Porch’s WordPress blog then you’ll see that they happen to the be the curators of the Brixton Windmill All-Dayer. Since it hosts some of the best underground guitar bands in the country, you can tell that Dignan are a group that know their onions when it comes to what’s going on in the DIY world. So it was really no surprise when their latest cassette, Crème, was a taut collection of nostalgic looks back into the fondly remembered era of do-it-yourself pop. Touching on everything from 80s Smiths-esque indie to the heavier squall of 90s Manic Street Preachers, the seven-track collection even features a cover of lesser-known London group Slushy Guts’ 2013 cut Alas.

While you can expect these newer tracks to get a fine airing at the Head of Steam on Saturday 28th November, they’re also likely to crack out a few classics from their equally good albums, Tendrils and Deluded. On the night they’re also joined by two of Newcastle’s finest purveyors of lo-fi noise; duo Rice Milk and time signature-shirkers Baker Island. Prepare yourself for lots of fuzz.

Dignan Porch play at the Head of Steam, Newcastle on Saturday 28th November.
