Expect a big noisy grunge-tinged night out in the Chapel at FANG (Middlesbrough Empire) on Friday 18th October, as local alt. rock label Sad For Life Records host a new monthly music showcase. This month sees Dead Naked Hippies head to Middlesbrough on their nationwide tour.

The three piece alt. rock band is fronted by Lucy Jowell who sings unapologetically about real life stuff like self-love, gender and mental health, whilst cutting through a wonderfully punky wall of drums, discordant feedback and riffs with a voice that’s reminiscent of Siouxsie Sioux and Patti Smith but is still very much her own, as is her expressive presence. The Leeds-based band have worked hard at perfecting their sound and they are very much on the up, gaining plaudits from Steve Lamacq, sharing a stage with IDLES and Dream Wife and also recently working with the Pixies and Rammstein producer Tom Dalgety on their latest single Eyes Wide.

They will be supported by North East band Creature, who hope to follow up their well-received Heelapalooza appearance.
