Help young songwriters in Sunderland create beautiful music by contributing to Cuckoo’s instrument fund!
Established in 2016, Cuckoo Young [Song] Writers has a weekly group for budding musicians and lyricists aged from 12 to 19. Lead by Martin Longstaff (aka The Lake Poets) and Natasha Haws, it’s a gift for burgeoning songwriters of all abilities to hone their craft. They now need a little help though, and they’ve launched a campaign to raise money for instruments through Kickstarter, here.
Since beginning, the group has grown steadily and has now reached the stage that it needs some instruments, having been dependent on the group members who have their own. The fund will seek to gather basic instruments through eBay bargains and stretching the modest target as far as it will go. It all aids in providing the space, time and professional help to develop songs and music, the group gives young songwriters the chance to perform at Cuckoo Young [Song] Writers gigs and get into the studio to record their work.
Cuckoo Young [Song] Writers is part of Cuckoo Young Writers, which is New Writing North’s young people’s programme. They heavily rely on funding and donations to keep all of their programme free and accessible to all, and long may that continue. Who knows what inspired talent’s hands the instrument you help buy could end up in.
Cuckoo Young [Song] Writers Instrument Fund is open on Kickstarter now.
