Feeling a bit brassed off after the highs of the festive season? Good, because there’s some top notch brass band action going down at Cobalt Studios on Sunday 10th February to make my opening pun (almost) worthwhile.

Broken Brass Ensemble – Dutch purveyors of New Orleans-style hot jazz – are celebrating the launch of their latest record with a UK tour that takes in Newcastle for a night that’s bound to be sweaty, riotous, and a whole heap of fun. Broken Brass Ensemble injects the traditional brass sound with a fusion of hip-hop, funk, soul, dance, jazz and turn it up to eleven with blazing energy and vibrancy.

Having played at tons of festivals over the last couple of years, including Shambala, Green Man, Secret Garden and more, you can be sure that they’ve got the skills to get the crowd jumping.

Support on the night comes from Proper Buzzin’, brand new brass tribute to ’90s rave culture who promise to take you on an unforgettable journey back to one of the most important decades of dance music. If you haven’t got the horn yet (sorry…), make sure you get down to this.
