Bonnie & The Bonnettes delve into motherhood, womanhood and femininity in their new show, And She
And She is part gig, part Mum’s living room. The new production from theatre company Bonnie & The Bonnettes, coming to Northern Stage, Newcastle on Friday 6th-Sunday 7th September, celebrates the amazing transformative work that takes place in living rooms across the land: all those women who have walked the path before us, blazed a trail and played their part in carving us into who we are today.
Armed with three microphones, music and a bottle of prosecco, the gig part sees Bonnie & The Bonnettes delving into motherhood, womanhood and femininity. Created and performed by Cameron Sharp, Rebecca Glendenning and Hattie Eason, And She is inspired by conversations with their Mums: all the advice taken and ignored, the tellings off, the pep talks and the tales of her past. This performance explores honestly the truth that is so hard to admit: that although we’re always scared of sounding just like our mum, maybe she was right about some things.
Bonnie & The Bonnettes’ raison d’être is to encourage audiences to laugh by producing thought-provoking work; And She has laughter and reflection in abundance.
