Sax makes everything look and sound better. Imagine Lost Boys without Sax Man and imagine Baker Street without that delicious solo, it just wouldn’t cut the mustard. For those of you who are wanting to add a little extra sax-appeal to your Sabbath, Binker Golding and his band will be performing at Town Hall, Middlesbrough on Sunday 17th November (2-6pm)

Binker Golding is a London-based saxophonist who has been at the forefront of the exciting Jazz revival that has been taking place this past few years, as well as being one half of the exciting MOBO and Parliamentary Jazz Award-winning duo, ‘Binker and Moses, alongside fellow musician and drummer Moses Boyd.

The upcoming Middlesbrough show will be a tad different to his Binker and Moses stuff and will take influence from older styles of jazz, as Binker Golding, explains: “The good people of the North East can expect something closer to the jazz of the late 50s 60s with a hint of modernism thrown in, contrasting with my earlier work with Binker & Moses & Elliot Galvin. The quartet is a typical jazz line-up of piano, double bass, drums and tenor saxophone. There’s also some shades of the fusion music of the 70s in there.

Joining Binker is the up and coming electronic-soul trio, Noya Rao and support comes from local rising talent The Francis Tulip Quartet.

The Sunday afternoon show is part of Middlesbrough Town Hall’s ambitious programme of jazz, taking place each month. So keep your eyes peeled for more upcoming shows via their website.
