A three-piece instrumental band who play jazz-infused math rock? Ambigyoumoose aren’t exactly playing your standard three-chord pop songs about getting girls and getting drunk then. Having played at ILSER’s single and Calf’s EP launches respectively, the group are finally getting a chance to show off what they do at the top of the bill, providing so many pedals, noises and above all fun that you’ll think you’d have stumbled into a parallel dimension of fuzzy wonders.

Joining them at the Little Buildings this Friday are promoters of the night Massa Confusa also take to the stage with their intelligent post punk vibes, bringing a bit of taut guitar and electronic elements to the room. Euan Lynn and Tom Reah, aka Topaz Gang, round off the line up with their brand of psychedelic electronic music, that sounds like what would happen if Neon Indian and Prince shared a studio and got their tapes mixed up inside a Sega Megadrive. Probably best to take some earplugs, but this night is bound to be a ton of fun.

That trio are joined by two bands so ridiculously fresh, you’d think they formed just to play this gig. Spacehawke not only have an amazing name but also sport electronic outfit Five Pence Game’s sometime drummer and guitarist Ian as part of their line up. Bad Amputee are promising to provide some lo-fi punk (a juxtaposition it’ll be interesting to see come off) and have Phil Tyler among their number. With a lineup of five bands, sporting some of the region’s best talents in a variety of genres, you’d be a fool to miss it.

Ambigyoumoose, Massa Confusa, Topaz Gang, Spacehawke and Bad Amputee play at the Little Buildings, Newcastle on Friday 16th October.
