If you like to laugh then you probably know that one of the best places in the region to experience a good chuckle is down at The Witham in Barnard Castle. Funny Way To Be have brought a whole host of brilliantly funny comedians (and comediennes) from around the country to the venue on a regular basis, but now they’re going one step further to put on a day of festivities on Saturday 18th July.

Six acts will be gracing the venue between 12pm and 10.30pm and while the acts will be revealed in the coming weeks, we have been told that there’ll be stars from Live At The Apollo, an Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, a 2014 British Comedy Award winner and some rising stars of the North East comedy circuit. That alone should be enough to pique your interest. There will also be a family friendly show to keep the kids occupied and plenty of time in between to sample The Witham’s tasty menu and experience some of Barney’s local delights.

Festival Director Peter Dixon says: “We’ve always tried to extend the boundaries of what we do in terms of producing top quality comedy shows in Barnard Castle. In the last five years we have been increasingly drawing in audience members from all over the North of England. To programme a full day of exceptional comedy so that locals and visitors can see a range of leading comics was, therefore, a natural progression. We are so excited about the line-up that we can hardly wait.”

Early bird tickets are now on sale and are priced at £45. You can purchase tickets from the festival’s official website.

The Barnard Castle Comedy Festival takes place at The Witham, Barnard Castle, on Saturday 18th July.
