Oxford’s Badlands have a wide range of influences: Nick Drave, Thee Oh Sees, Kurt Vile, Bob Dylan, ham hock sandwiches, green tea and Sainsbury’s ready meals. Because who hasn’t been influenced by a cheeky microwaveable curry? On Monday 19th January, The Cluny are giving you the opportunity to see just how much impact those budget tikka masalas have had on the five-piece when they play as part of their UK tour.

In all seriousness, Badlands are something of a juicy prospect. They recently released their EP Fortune Gone on their own label, filled with soaring indie-rock and memorable hooks. They’re joined by fellow Oxonians Orange Vision, who are bringing their own blend of post-punk, glam and shoegaz soaked in reverb and flooded with feedback. Rounding off the lineup are London four-piece Shark Dentist, who describe themselves as “sandwich metal.” No confirmation if that’s ham hock sandwiches but with such a vicious line-up of rising UK talent, you can’t deny that’ll things are going to get tasty.
