Reliably informed

Ouseburn’s Cobalt Studios pull another cracking night of innovative entertainment out of the hat on Thursday 5th March, as electronic artists BABii and Straight Girl come to town.

Up-and-coming pop act BABii heads the bill with meticulously stylised R&B-meshed synth music. Recent release from the turn of the new year release GEOSHiiNE combines bright vocals and multilayered electronica with organic, deep-rooted emotion. Expect psychedelia in both metaphor-laden lyrics and impressive show graphics.

Support comes from the paradoxically named Straight Girl: DIY electro punk Holly Readman’s latest musical project refracts their music through queer identity. Straight Girl is unabashed in style, and doesn’t shy away from making pretty weird music. Their track Ugly sounds like if Pac-Man were at a rave – which is undoubtedly an unusual route to go down for a song which at its core is about proclaiming a strong sense of self.

Both BABii and Straight Girl are unapologetic in their work and sound, so their styles should collide in the most gloriously empowering way.
