I first stumbled across Aurora on YouTube performing her 2015 NPR Tiny Desk Concert. Instantly I was transfixed by the music of her haunting notes, her tiny unassuming figure and those grey-blue eyes…

Aurora looks and sounds like some mythical lady of the realm emerging from a towering Norwegian forest, calling to you with a voice steeped in the delighted innocence of a child while weighted in long-forgotten knowledge.

Aurora uses her entire body to sing, a little Kate Bush-like, with wide-eyed, theatrical hand gestures. She is an absolute delight to watch, with her powerful performances contrasting with her sweet and seemingly shy comments to the audience in between songs.

Her current tour is in support of her second studio album A Different Kind of Human – Step 2, which was released in June. A beautiful tapestry of entrancing melodies over electronic beats and synths, it’s all held together with Aurora’s unique ethereal presence. Catch her in all her sonic glory at Newcastle’s Boiler Shop on Saturday 9th November.
