Two folk treasures perform two cracking gigs in the region this month

Annie Dressner sounds like a lovely person. The New York native has such a warm, lilting tone to her voice, and her lyrics are delivered with such a natural, conversational cadence, that listening to her feels more like sitting on a couch with an uber-talented friend jamming next to you than it does spinning the record of a transatlantic folk songstress.
Forging that kind of connection so effortlessly is by no means an easy thing to do, and it really speaks volumes as to Dressner’s adroitness, not just as a singer, but as a writer too.
With that in mind, the opportunity to see her live is not to be missed. Now based here in the UK, she will grace two of the region’s most intimate and engaging venues, The Cluny 2 on Saturday 22nd February and the Old Cinema Launderette in Durham – a venue Dressner cities as one of her personal favourites – the night after.
Joining Dressner will be fellow folk treasure Polly Paulusma, who plays alongside Dressner in collaborative side project The Pollyanna Band. Paulusma has a vivid tapestry of bewitching songs in her own right, and with the two sharing a bill, these shows will be delectable indeed.
