Indie posters Amber Run released their debut album on Monday 27th April and to celebrate they’re hitting the road with a date in Newcastle at Think Tank on Saturday 2ndMay. Following their support slot with label mates Kodaline last year, the quintet, who formed whilst studying at Nottingham University, have become highly favoured for their own subtle anthemic songwriting. With comparisons to the likes of Elbow and Coldplay hastily made, classic songwriting lies at the heart of what they do.

Theirs is a sound that amalgamates light vibrating guitars with explosive and elevated melodies. Episodic lyrics and affecting vocals provide moments of subtlety whilst driving hooks and urging choruses take you straight to the festival field with their infectious nature. And given their debut record has been produced by Mike Crossey, whose credits include Arctic Monkeys, Two Door Cinema Club and Foals, you can expect to hear tracks more contagious than a bout of measles.

Support comes in the form of Meadowlark, whose beautifully crafted tracks and mellow acoustic vibe along with the pretty purity of vocalist Kate McGill will serve as a most enticing appetizer for the main event.

Amber Run play at Think Tank, Newcastle on Saturday 2nd May.
