A thought-provoking exhibition focusing on bereavement and grief
Bereavement and loss are some of the hardest emotions that we have to deal with in our lives. It can leave us confused, crushed, depressed and feeling seriously disillusioned. Everyone experiences these feelings differently but Alysia Anne’s latest work is attempting to capture the complexities of loss through the medium of photography.
Shift displays images that play with light sources and manipulate the lens to create moods rather than show representations of figures or objects. As such, many of the works are oblique and obscured but attempt to sum up a mood. In Shift’s case it’s often the feeling of grief and bereavement, leading to a mix of moody colour palettes and washed-out filters that carry with them a distinct sense of sadness. It might not be the easiest of subject matters, but Alysia Anne’s emotive and powerful works will move you like no other.
