Reliably informed

There’s always this one person who seems to appear in practically everything but you just don’t know who they are. It happens in films all the time; character actors pop up everywhere filling minor roles alongside the big-name stars, seemingly cropping up on every trip you take to the cinema. Alun Cochrane’s latest show, Me Neither, sounds as if he’s taking the mick out of himself, suggesting that he’s a nobody on the comedy circuit. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

Cochrane is in fact a man with some lovely dulcet tones who has graced more radio and panel shows than I’ve had hot dinners. Just to name a few, he’s been on The Frank Skinner Show, Just A Minute, his own Fun House, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Mock the Week and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow. Not bad for a man who openly admits to having a dour and grumpy onstage persona (let’s face it, that’s what makes him loveable). A man who can satisfy comedy purists and casual stand up watchers alike, Cochrane’s new show is one not to be missed.

Alun Cochrane comes to The Stand, Newcastle on Tuesday 31st March.
