The Coal Porters, Rob Heron & the Tea Pad Orchestra and more play this year’s event
After a highly successful first year, the North Pennines will once again be home to some of the UK’s most celebrated folk stars, as Allen Valleys Folk Festival takes place from Friday 2nd until Sunday 4th October at venues across Allendale.
Emerging musical talent takes pride of place on a line-up which also includes workshops, dancers, guided walks and much more. Musical entertainment comes from alt. bluegrass act The Coal Porters, perennial gypsy jazz swingers Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra, celebrated fiddle player Tom McConville, inventive performer Kate In The Kettle, dynamic sextet Patch & The Giant, the wry humour of RM Hubbert, genre-defying madness of Polly & The Billets Doux and contemporary folk group The Will Pound Band, among many more. Add the festival’s stunning location in the heart of rural Northumberland to a fantastic bill of inventive contemporary and traditional folk music, and you’ve got a corker of a festival.
