Local promoters Canteen Concert Club have been building their reputation with some incredible little line-ups over the last few months, keeping an alt vibe to some tremendously eclectic bills. Another show on Wednesday 27th July sees them pulling in a line-up of bands on the rise at Newcastle’s Northumberland Arms.

Bringing new artists to North East audiences who may have slipped under the radar for some, and have an immensely passionate following from others is what our rich music scene is all about; so atmospheric, instrumental four-piece A Sudden Burst Of Colour are really worth checking out. Gorgeously melodic compositions, set them up as an immensely captivating slice of something a little different. They’re joined by the alt indie of The Welcome Party, with vocals that bubble with a fiery, angsty undercurrent, they’ve been a band that consistently impress live, and are sure to do so again here. There’s also the sharp, Britpop-esque Slurs and dreamy electronic sounds from Joseph Curwen in what should be a superb selection of emerging music makers.

A Sudden Burst Of Colour, The Welcome Party, Slurs and Joseph Curwen play Northumberland Arms, Newcastle on Wednesday 27th July.
