Friday 3rd May will see one of the finest UK jazz labels descend on the region, bringing with it a collection of hugely talented artists ready to showcase their jazz sounds. The event at Sage Gateshead marks the 10 year anniversary of the hugely successful Manchester-based Gondwana, a label that has launched the careers of a handful of the genre’s most influential artists including GoGo Penguin, Portico Quartet and Mammal Hands.

The night will be split between Sage’s Hall Two and Northern Rock Foundation Hall, with DJ sets being played at the Sage Two bar throughout the evening. It kicks off with a very special performance from the label founder Matthew Halsall alongside the Gondwana Orchestra, whom he worked closely with on his last full album Into Forever. There will also be performances from Leeds-based quartet Noya Rao, composer and pianist Hania Rani, and ethereal singer songwriter Caoilfhionn Rose. The night will end with a show from Mammal Hands, who continue to impress with their mesmerising sounds as well as their truly stunning live shows.

This is not only a must-see for jazz and electronic enthusiasts, but for anyone who wants to listen to something that little bit unique and truly special!
