We celebrate our 14th birthday with a free to download compilation of tracks by North East artists. Download your copy via our Bandcamp site. We hear more from Pit Pony about their track.

With members of Retriever, Cheap Lunch and Black Lung Club making up their ranks, the fact Pit Pony have rocketed so swiftly up the local scene’s league ladders should come as little surprise. However, far from inordinate fast-tracking, theirs is a case of a group amounting to – and arguably exceeding – the sum of their parts, spearheaded by Jackie Purver’s assured vocal and the fulsome crunch of a twin-guitar engine. Dutch Courage bullishly bears the rollicking garage chops which have catapulted them among the North East’s hottest tips.

“Dutch Courage is about stupid things you do as a teenager. I’m sure everyone can relate to telling a little white lie when they were younger to get themselves out of an awkward situation and maybe embellishing it too much and regretting it later. In this case I just put that into a song (and added in a little nod to my ancestry at the same time).”
