As has become customary for our birthday celebrations, we’re extremely excited to bring you another compilation album featuring the cream of the North East crop.

The album is FREE to download from our Bandcamp page; today, we focus on Casual Threats’ Extra Maritime Affair.

Casual Threats – Extra Maritime Affair

Three-piece punk rogues Casual Threats are anything but your typical polished-up indie band. They’ve been tearing up venues with their firm punk manifesto of keeping everything heavy and loud. This isn’t limited to noisy thrash-outs that last no longer than two minutes though, Extra Maritime Affair clocks in at a solid five and delves into themes of love and loss without being overly sentimental.

The track lays down the narrative under crawling, distorted guitar, whilst the vocals are a kind of care-free that Pixies’ Black Francis would appreciate. “It’s about that time after a relationship where you don’t want to be with that person but you equally don’t want them to be with anyone else because you’ve still got fresh memories.” The band explain. “It seems to be something of a live favourite.”
