Welcome to the ninth annual NARC. Compilation Album, curated to celebrate our birthday but also to shine a light on some of the amazing local acts we’ve come across. Head over to our Bandcamp site to download your free copy of the album featuring 17 tracks which veer from quirky alt. folk, riotous blues, aggressive rock, disco pop and plenty more besides. You’re welcome.

The long awaited project from former member of surf popsters The Bubble Project’s Ian Black, SLUG present the oddly named track Eggs And Eyes. Just the name of the track presents a warped image, perhaps not as odd as the bizarrely titled Cockeyed Rabbit Wrapped in Plastic, but it’s still out there. Displaying just a hint of Ian Black’s Field Music cohorts’ style – particularly in the harmony-drenched breakdown – distorted imagery is the tip of the iceberg here, with lyrics at odds with the jaunty pop tune, the flash of guitar and nagging chorus that will stick in your head for days. We’ve got no idea what it’s about, but when it sounds this good, who cares?!
