Middlesbrough’s President have been working together since the late 1980’s. The band has taken many different forms over the years, however, the original band members are now back together and are releasing new music.

The band, who were once signed to Blue Mountain Music Publishing (U2’s publishers) and who supported Edwin Star on his tour, drop their latest offering Bella. The track’s evocative sax, tender keys and atmospheric guitar provide the melodic base for the soft, yet soulful Fry/Hadley-esque vocals to nestle nicely upon.

Here, the band’s singer/songwriter Tony tells us a little more about what inspired the single…

The track Bella follows the story of a person’s realisation of life’s journey and the salvation of a deep love from their partner, a thank you I suppose for saving them and leading them to a better life. I decided to write the track as a 6/8 waltz as I just love the way the rhythm goes, it just offered me that level of inspiration to bag the song.

The B side is a previously unreleased version of European Summer, this was a Demo recorded for the publishers prior to being signed. The track was recorded at Fairview Studios in Hull and the lads can’t wait for their faithful fans to hear it finally.

The inspiration for the artwork comes from Geoff our saxophonist, vocalist and songwriter who designs all the band’s covers. His eye is always looking for something new with a lean towards the abstract. The Bella single cover is again another beautiful piece of work.
