Newcastle’s The Grove welcomed eccentric indie disco outfit Youth Sector to the city, which resulted in an evening of explosive alternative hits that hit the spot on a cold winter’s evening!
The evening’s openers were local alternative rock outfit Porcelain, who truly shone with their slick guitar-driven songs and the stunning vocals of singer Curtis highlighting their exquisite storytelling. Soft yet powerful anthems and colourful musical palettes warmed the crowd for the main event of the evening.
Upbeat and funky disco pop outfit Youth Sector brought their charming and bright sound to The Grove, as well as their wild and unstoppable onstage characters that utilised every meter of the venue’s stage. The five-piece brought their fanatic and exciting blends of shimmering keys, hefty bass lines, and soaring vocals and told their stories through inexhaustible dance moves that are only for those that enjoy a true performance. Fast-paced, hook-filled tracks such as personal favourites Won’t Stop The Wheel, The Ball and the band’s latest single release Primetime all passed the revue. While the band is known for their thundering and elusive sound, they also stripped it back down to vocals and guitar to their audience a well-earned break, resulting in what might have been one of the most special moments of their set.
Bringing in their own personal humour and antics, Youth Sector wrapped all of those attending the evening’s event around their fingers and had most of them queue in line afterwards to get hold of some merchandise.
