With Christmas just around the corner, an evening of folk rock courtesy of Skinny Lister was the perfect soundtrack to a festive night out on Tyneside. Welsh acoustic singer/songwriter Tom Jenkins and indie rock trio Berries warmed up the crowd on an evening where temperatures dropped below zero in the North East.

Headliners Skinny Lister took to the stage with much passion and enthusiasm, and the audience fed off that energy from the start. Lorna Thomas danced across the stage like a woman possessed, whilst accordion player Max Thomas and an occasional appearance from Party George spurred on the fans throughout.

With album number six on the way, Skinny Lister took the opportunity to road test a few of their freshest compositions, each of which was well received. Whilst the crowd lapped up fan favourites such as Arm Wrestling In Dresden, Geordie Lad, John Kanaka, Cathy and Trouble On Oxford Street. Skinny Lister’s setlist was packed full of songs that made you want to sing along at the top of your lungs, and the crowd did just that.

With all three acts onstage for a finale of Six Whiskies, it was apparent that Lister-mania had once again taken over Newcastle.
