Reliably informed

Brighton born three piece Our Girl are a sensible fit for Hackman’s only support slot and well worth your time – similar enough to whet appetites with enough groove to fix a full Think Tank?’s attention before Marika Hackman and band take the stage.

Hackman’s pedigree is well documented; a former bandmate of Cara Delavigne and a Burberry model, she has the attitude of a seasoned pop star beyond her 25 years and the air of an empowered young woman who relishes being a heartfelt artist documenting what it’s like to be what the media might brand a ‘Millennial’.

It’s an attitude that is infectious and engaging; an attentive crowd hangs on her every word as she and her band rattle through a selection of breathy grunge pop ditties from her transition from folk rock darling to alt. rock songstress. Album hits like Times So Reckless, My Lover Cindy and Boyfriend perfectly demonstrate the tongue in cheek, subversive lyricism that have seen Hackman’s popularity hit new heights. Yet when she takes to the stage solo for an encore rendition of Cigarette, it’s clear her sensitive side is still festering beneath the cool exterior.
