The O2 Academy may seem like a slightly incongruous venue for a band like Daughter. Their confessional, spacious songs better suited to concert halls and venues that feel like they contribute to the show, but then again Daughter at the O2 Academy throws up its own surprises, like a raucous shout along to the Youth, the closest  thing they have to an anthem.

Daughter themselves border on perfect. Their sometimes ambient music transforming to provide an atmosphere that the crowd doesn’t just listen to but breathes deeply of. Elena Tonra’s vocal is lush and clearer than crystal, and the big moments are huge. The band are clearly shy, but when they leave the stage they look just as dazed and elated as the crowd.
